As I storm out of her house, anger surges through me like a relentless tide. The door slams shut behind me, its resounding echo a perfect mirror to the frustration I’m feeling right now. We’ve had arguments before... and she has always been upfront when it comes to the difficult conversations, but this felt different... like something broke. My heart races, matching the hurried rhythm of my footsteps as I descend the front steps. The cool night breeze prickles against my skin, a stark contrast to the heated exchange we just had. My mind is a whirlwind of conflicting emotions.
You wake up to the gentle nudge of the alarm from your smartwatch, a feature fine-tuned to fit your sleep cycle. The room is dim, and you are barely awake. As you reach to silence the watch, you murmur, “Alexa, wake me up gently.” With that simple voice command, mapped to execute one of the several pre-programmed routines you've set up, the lights begin to brighten, and your favorite morning playlist starts to play through the integrated sound system.
AI's influence in Hollywood is growing at an astonishing pace, sparking concerns about a loss of human creativity and control. From analyzing audience preferences to crafting storylines and developing characters, concerns about the technology seem to have even led to the most recent strike among writers and actors. But are machines truly the driving force behind these changes, or is there a more human element at play?
Around 3 week ago I decided to embark on a specialization in AI Product Management from Duke University, (big shout-out to my alma matter Tecnológico de Monterrey for making this learning journey possible for me). As I dived into the student role again after all these years, I quickly realized two personal truths: First (despite all my experience) I’m still terrified of exams and pop quizzes, yet the rush and adrenaline of getting a good grade is oddly satisfying (“me asusta pero me gusta”, as we say in MX).
This past week has been a bit of a nightmare for me. After almost 3 years of not being sick, one of my kids gave me the flu just before New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately for me that means almost zero sleep for days, which at some point starts impacting my overall mood. I’ve had all the annoying typical symptoms, but the worst part has been the feeling of powerlessness and frustration. I kept telling myself I should had taken better care of my health but as every other time I’ve been sick before, my only choice now is to be patient and not be too hard on myself.
After a few months of hard work for the SAIT Applied Product Management Course, I had my final presentation with the Citizen Development Enablement Committee last Tuesday and our last class this week. As the Product Manager for the Citizen Development Program, being able to successfully showcase the concept of ‘business technologist outside of IS (Information Services) being in control of technical projects’ to everyone in the company is key for success.
I often get asked if it was challenging going from being the co-founder and head of a successful Start-up in Mexico for 14 years to working my first Corporate job for one of the biggest energy companies in North-America. The short answer is: Of course it was! Not only did I had to learn how to let other people be on the driver seat I also had to deal with very different kinds of leadership and management. But instead of thinking I lost my freedom to do things my way I decided to embrace the challenge of making my new environment work in favor of my team as well as of the company that gave me the opportunity for a new beginning.
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is our opportunity to automate low-value, repetitive tasks.

Presenting Bot Wars to such a powerful community at the first ever Microsoft Power Platform Conference alongside MS’ own Mustapha LAZREK was one of the highlights of my career as a Product Manager. The work my team is doing for the Citizen Development Program at TC Energy has been nothing short of outstanding.
